My eBay Experience

ebay2Since 1998, I made my living as an eBay seller and an eBay alternative was the farthest thing from my mind.

eBay was a fantastic, nurturing site, and a bang-up way to make money. I relished every minute of it, and I came across some genuinely cool folks along the way. I was lucky enough to be able to do it full time, and I produced more income than any job would have provided.

Lately though, all hell exploded. A few of my products were e-books. Not lousy e-books being passed off for a penny, but superior, valuable and best-selling e-books that helped people achieve or learn something valuable. eBay did not care for that however, and with one new rule, my business was virtually gone. Years of work and building it up for nothing.

I have read numerous heart-breaking accounts of other folks whose businesses were destroyed by eBay overnight. Many of those people are now bound to regular dead-end jobs once again because the ebay corporation has grown too big and powerful with big businesses in mind instead of the small businesses that made eBay what it is today. eBay is no fun any longer. You need a true eBay alternative.

Protect Your Business

I’m not trying to frighten you. I just want to warn you. Don’t put all of your eggs in eBay’s basket. It’s no longer a secure thing to do. If you only sell your items on eBay, you do not own your business. They do, and they can "fire" you at any time. Yeah, it’s time for an eBay alternative.

If you get zilch out of what I’m telling you, please consider this. You need to begin broadening your business. You need to sell at additional places in addition to eBay, but where? I am sure you have tried other auction sites only to be frustrated. They just do not have the traffic equivalent to eBay.
There is one site though, that does. This past Christmas, for the first time ever, this one web site beat up eBay not only in traffic, but also sales. That site is Amazon and they are ready and waiting for you to come and sell your items with them.

The Best eBay Alternative

 Better Than eBay

eBay is attempting to force the average small seller away. We do not matter to them anymore. eBay has been busy enticing big corporations. They give these companies unfair advantage over us smaller sellers. That’s why they recently altered the feedback system. It has nothing to do with making eBay more secure.

Paypal is ever-changing as well. Did you know that among the next things eBay would like to do is make it mandatory that you use Paypal? Yeah, eBay will before long be a Paypal exclusive site. No more personal checks or money orders or directing folks to a different payment web site. Oh, and did you know that unless you have a certain feedback rating, Paypal can hold the money paid to you for 21 days? You are still required to ship the merchandise immediately, but you might not get the money for almost a calendar month. And with the convenient new feedback scheme, most sellers won’t be receiving their money for 21 days.

Things are changing quickly at eBay and your business could be in peril tomorrow just like mine. If you are ready to broaden your income, and protect yourself from whatever eBay conjours up next, then do what I did and learn how to sell your items on Amazon. Check out the new book called, Selling on the River.

Selling on the River

"Selling on the River" became the code name folks used on the eBay forums. People started talking about Amazon, but eBay would delete any threads with that word immediately. So, "Selling on the River" was born.

It is also the title of a book I learned from, that teaches exactly what to do to sell your products on Amazon.com. This was an invaluable resource that allowed me to start making a living full time again.

Amazon has NO listing fees! None. You only pay ONE fee if your item sells. No need for Paypal either and its additional transaction fees! People pay you directly through Amazon-a name you know as do people around the world. You simply must give this a try! Even if you are still making money at eBay, get another stream of income coming to you. You will be so glad you did.

The Other eBay Alternative I Use

The second eBay alternative I use is part of eBay. Ebay Classified Ads is a great way to use the traffic that eBay still gets to drive visitors to your website or product offer. The ads show up in eBay search right with the regular auctions. The best part though is the cost of the ad. For only about 10 dollars a month, your ad will be viewed by a potential group of thousands of eBay visitors. You cannot beat that value with any other form of advertising. Read the free ebook here.
