profit = seliing price – buying price

On line auctions are all about buy low-sell high. Your disadvantage against real stores is the customer has to pay shipping so your sell high has to be lower than the shops.
In order to maximize your profit you need to buy even lower. The lowest price you can get stuff at is zero and the only way to do that is to shoplift it. Thus the best way to get 40-50K a year is to shoplift approx. 5K of goods a month.
I know this works out to 60K but you need to figure lawyer fees and paying fines and so on into the mix.

look into drop shipping, and distribution centers.
